Fall in San Francisco

Before moving here, I heard that September/October were considered to be summer in San Francisco. I had only been here during spring or winter from previous visits, so I was excited to experience some warmth when most of the U.S were gearing up for cooler temps.

But I soon realized that temperatures in the Bay can change drastically from morning to noon to evening, especially in Outer Richmond. Karl the Fog likes to hang out around here.

So, we've learned to always dress in layers.

Our third week here, temperatures reached almost 90, and even higher in other parts of the Bay, so instead of making the boys take their afternoon naps, we headed to the beach.

Warm sand beneath our feet, sweeping clouds above, we raced to the water's edge and eagerly dipped our toes in.

Cold, I exclaimed! I ran back to the warm sand while the boys happily chased the foamy sea as if unaware of the cold.

I step back further to capture these happy moments. Some day, they will look back at these pictures and see what an amazing childhood they had.

My dad took me on so many adventures with him and took thousands of photographs, and I always loved looking back through them with him.

Being only two blocks from Ocean Beach is a wonderful blessing. We go there almost every day; even when it's cold and cloudy, the boys beg to go.

I feel spoiled.

I'm trying to remind myself and the boys each time we go on an adventure that this is a good gift from above.
