Point Reyes Lighthouse
Last Saturday, we finally got the opportunity to take a trip to Point Reyes Lighthouse with our friends. Before this trip, I had seen several photographs of the lighthouse, and most of them showcased the classic descending down the long and narrow staircase shot. They immediately drew me in and made me want to walk down those stairs myself.
We took our time and stopped at Point Reyes Station for lunch. The entire drive up to this point had been nothing but beautiful: starting from the city, through the Golden Gate Bridge, winding our way around Lucas Valley Road in Marin County and unexpectedly spotting a redwood grove.
But nothing, not the pictures, nor my imagination, prepared me for what lay ahead. I felt like we were transported to the Scottish countryside! My words will not adequately describe what I saw or the emotions I felt that day. You just have to go see it and feel it!
I didn't get my camera out till we parked, and I'm glad I was able to take it all in with my eyes first.
If you live in or visiting the Bay Area and have never visited Point Reyes Lighthouse, I highly recommend checking it out! But try to go on a sunny and warm day. The pictures make it look super warm, and it was unusually warm in the city that day, but as we got closer to the parking area, the wind kicked in. So, dress in layers if you visit!
