Holiday Portraits in San Francisco: Exploring the Best Family Photo Locations
If you’ve been following along for some time, you'll already be well aware that, in my book, capturing family moments isn't reserved solely for the holiday season :). That being said, from October to early December and sometimes even into January, the weather in San Francisco is at its finest. We joke that it’s our summer! So, we’ve gotta take advantage of it! If you’re booking a family photo session in San Francisco, here are some great locations to consider:
Grand View Park
This spot is for families that don’t want to mess with the sandy beaches but still want that wow factor for their holiday photos. It’s small, so it’s ideal for parents who are concerned about strenuous hikes that may tire out their kids.
Lands End
Lands End is huge! It stretches across much of San Francisco’s Outer Richmond neighborhood. Though it’s a popular spot, the trails accommodate a variety of ages. And if you prefer less well-known photo locations, consider Sutro Heights Park. It’s just across the street from Sutro Baths and has a quiet neighborhood park vibe.
Baker Beach
Baker Beach is iconic so it comes with its own challenges, like navigating the crowds on a warm day, especially during the golden hour. But, with a little bit of creativity and planning, you can create some beautiful memories here.
Ocean Beach
I feel that Ocean Beach is not as popular of a spot for family photos, but it’s actually perfect because it’s wide and long, and it gives you a clean and classic backdrop. It’s easy to find parking, great for families with little ones who like to explore, and the surfers are always fun to watch!
Whether you prefer the rugged beauty of Lands End, the classic charm of Baker Beach, the serenity of Ocean Beach, or the elevated perspective of Grand View Park, there's a perfect spot for everyone to explore.
